Ahh..how he's growing

I am amazed everyday by how much Bennett has changed in just 4.5 short months. Last month he was very much into being held, watching our facial expressions and having us entertain him. This month, he still likes being held but would rather be facing out (this is nothing new) and is taking in the world.

Recently, he is very amused by the animals. He especially likes Marley, who just happens to be terrified of him. We are working on making Marley feel more comfortable around Bennett. In the beginning, we spent so much time telling Marley to "leave it" so now he figures he's not allowed to go near him. I have a feeling they will be best buds soon. The other animals will inspect Bennett but none of them seem overly interested in him. He's just too unpredictable.

Bennett loves spending time in his exersaucer and his jumperoo. Yes, he has both! We bought the jumperoo for Christmas and then got the exersaucer as a hand-me-down so we kept them both. The other night Eric and I were going through all the hand-me-down clothes that my sister brought for Bennett. The three of us where in his room. It was close to bedtime and Ben was working out his energy from the day in the jumperoo. Eric and I stepped out of the room for a minute to get his bath ready and when we came back we found this.

He was one tired boy. He woke up right after I took this picture and went right back to jumping : )

Today I realized it will not be long before he is sitting up on his own. I was holding him while he sat and played with his toys. I was able to let go and he does pretty good sitting for a few seconds before he topples to the front or side.

Of course, everything is still going into his mouth. For a few weeks all he wanted to chew on was fingers. I have to admit, we let him. Luckily, he is now into chewing on Sophie and no longer is as adamant about chewing on fingers. At least not our fingers. Bennett is the sweetest little boy I know (I guess I'm biased). He is so easy going and has such a sweet personality. He has a little sense of humor (he gets that from me), an independent spirit (he gets that from me) and a touch of impulsiveness (he gets that from his Papa). Even though I love watching him change and grow, it serves as a constant reminder that no matter what I do, he won't be little forever.

Rockin' and Rollin' Part II

Here's a video of Bennett rolling over : ) I was a little late getting the camera so he was already half way there.

Rockin and Rollin

Bennett rolled over from his back to his tummy today! I knew he was getting close to being able to do it. He was laying on the floor while I was getting ready for work. He kept rolling to his side like he has been doing. Finally he decided to give it all he had and he rolled over. Who knows if he'll do it again anytime soon but it was exciting all the same.

Four months old!

Bennett is four months old. I can not believe how much he has changed in the last few weeks. He went from barely being able to grasp a toy to reaching out and grabbing things. Sometimes he can even grab toys and put them in his mouth to "explore." His legs are getting stronger every day. When we hold him up he can stand with support (mostly for balance). He loves the exersaucer he got from his Aunt Mimi. When he got it a few weeks ago, we would have to rotate him in the seat (it turns in the middle) but now he can do it himself. He spins around and plays with all the toys. He also jumps up and down which makes the whole thing shake. He loves it when I watch him. He smiles big and is so proud of himself.
Because he spends most of his time in the exersaucer, he doesn't spend much time on his play mat but when he does, he scooches all over the place. Today I put him down on it and was doing some things around the house. When I came back he was in a completely different place then I had left him. He hasn't quite mastered rolling from his back to his belly but it won't be long. He can roll to his side with no problem and as soon as he figures out how to get his arm out of the way he'll be on his tummy!
He explores every thing with his mouth. He especially loves chewing on momma's fingers. I usually don't mind but sometimes he bites down really hard. I try to get him to chew on Sophie but he prefers fingers. He is showing a lot of signs of teething but no signs of any teeth coming through yet.

At his four month check-up, Bennett weighed in at 14 lbs 12 oz and 24 3/4 inches long. He is wearing 3-6 month clothes but probably not for much longer.
We celebrated his birthday by going to the aquarium with Ciocia Inga and cousin Gabe. The boys had a great time. I carried Bennett in the Moby wrap so he could have a good view of everything. He loved it. Luckily, we now have a membership so we will be able to visit all we want for the next year.
We are truly enjoying watching our sweet boy grow up. I am constantly amazed by him. He is such a happy boy. His gummy grin melts my heart. One of my favorite parts of the day is when I go in to get him out of his crib in the morning. He looks up and smiles at me and when I lift him out he snuggles against me. I absolutely love that no matter how little sleep I got the night before : )

Merry Christmas!

What a wonderful Christmas it was! Bennett celebrated his first Christmas with all his Aunts and Uncles. All my brothers and my sister were in town to celebrate. That doesn't happen very often. Bennett was spoiled with gifts. Luckily, Papa and I didn't go too crazy with gifts this year. The best part was spending time with everyone!

3 months!

Bennett is officially 3 months old! I can't believe how quickly the time has gone by. I am amazed by him everyday. It seems like every time I blink he is doing something new. He is interacting with us more now then he did before. He loves to smile and "talk." I love it when I get home from work and he has a big smile waiting for me. It's the best.
He is very active. He likes laying on his playmat and kicking the bars to make all the toys move. He is constantly sucking on his hand. He does know how to just get his thumb in his mouth but the whole hand is so much better. He doesn't like doing any one thing for too long because then he gets bored and he lets you know it!
I love watching him take in the world. He is still learning how to use his hands. It is too funny to watch him concentrate so hard to try and touch something. He is getting a lot better at it. He is more deliberate now when he is touching something. It's no longer just reflex. He has discovered his feet and really enjoys looking at them and watching them move.
His favorite toy is Pooh. He likes it when I make Pooh talk in a low tone of voice. I make Pooh say, "Hey Bennett. It's Pooh bear. Do you have any honey? I need some honey for my honey pot." It cracks him up every time.

Besides playing on his playmat, Bennett loves sitting in his bumbo seat. Sitting up is so much more interesting then laying on the floor. He will usually sit in his bumbo on the kitchen floor as Eric and I prepare dinner.

Last week, Tom started his Nanny duty. So far, so good. Bennett and Tom are still adjusting to spending their days together but all in all it is going well. I think it will just take some time for them to get into a routine.
Even though the last three months have been quite a roller coaster ride, I can honestly say that I have enjoyed every minute of it. It makes me a little sad that the newborn phase is over. I was looking at Bennett's hands the other day and they no longer look like newborn hands. They look like little boy hands. I would love to keep him little forever : ) Although...It is fun to watch him grow!
